Windows Professional or Ultimate ?

When is Windows Professional Not
All I want to do is a ‘Remote Desktop’ connection using Multiple Monitors (different resolutions).
A feature that is supposedly available in windows 7.
After all, i now have the “Use multiple monitors” option when i run Remote Desktop.
I can click the ‘Help’ button, and I get the very reassuring message:
“Is there multiple-monitor support for Remote Desktop Connection in this version of Windows?” and in brief, the answer is Yes.
However, I couldn’t get it working.
After doing some digging, I found this rather helpful if not anoying faq from microsoft:
Where it states that:-
“Which editions of Windows 7 include multiple-monitor support for Remote Desktop Connection?
In Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows 7 Enterprise editions, Remote Desktop Connection supports the use of multiple high-resolution displays in a remote session”
So it would appear, that only Windows Ultimate & Enterprise supports multiple monitors.
Its not listed in any product comparisons that I have looked at.
So, just what is the ‘Professional’ product. If ‘key’ functionality is going to missed out, then why have so many different products.
I know, you could argue, just Purchase the other product. But thats not the point. I looked at the feature comparison carefully before selecting, and decided Professional is all I needed.
Looks like I was wrong, I didnt realise I needed to check every minute piece of functionality that I wanted to make use of.
- I Hope I am Wrong, I hope I need to applogise in a later update.
But after all, it would appear that even the installed ‘Professional’ product itself seems to think it should work.
